Improving the IT onboarding and training workflows for members

The IT Circle is looking at how we help people get started and feel comfortable with our digital tools. Our goal is to ensure the user experience is easy and comfortable. We want staff and members to have access to everything they need without feeling overwhelmed.

We are currently reviewing the onboarding workflows for several different roles, including general members, staff members, and our web content publishing or outreach staff.

The tools we are focusing on:

  • Google Workspace, Zoom, and Google Groups

  • SoFA Member Forums and WordPress

  • Groundhogg, Peerdom, and Asana

  • Canva and Bitwarden

Helpful Resources: We are looking into how we can better use our existing resources to guide you through these workflows:

We also provide specific training for members who are taking on more responsibilities or moving into new roles. If you have been here for a while and just need a “refresher” on a certain tool, we are here for that too. We want our training to grow with you as your work in the organization changes.

We would love your help and feedback: Since we want these workflows to work for you, your experience is the most important part of this process.

Do you remember your first week using these tools? Or have you recently taken on a new role and felt like you needed more training?

If you have ideas on how we can make our training more friendly, or if you have a “wish list” for IT support, please share your thoughts here.

We will keep sharing our progress!
