I am wondering how much oversight a parent circle should have – ideally – over a child circle. Should the parent circle comment on/maintain awareness of how well the child circle is addressing its aim and domains? We are thinking it might make sense for the parnt circle to review child circle reviews as part of its own review. Should the parent circle offer support if the child circle has not requested such support? What should the parent circle do if it sees that the child circle is struggling, but the child circle is not requesting support? Although I often believe that a simple conversation between individuals with a high trust dynamic might help, this is not always working. All of these questions are outside the realm of legality.
I don’t know if you are speaking hypothetically or this is a actual struggle you’re experiencing, but my first question would be get the perspective of the leader and delegate. Is it only certain members of the parent circle that want more oversight (since presumably the leader and delegate have a better understanding of what is happening)? Or are the leader and delegate at odds with the rest of the child circle and unsure whether to enlist the help of the rest of the parent circle?
