Sociocratic Meetings: Consent to the agenda
In sociocracy, even the meeting agenda is consented to: Someome typically prepares and thinks through the agenda. The proposed agenda is then presented to all participants at the start of the meeting.
Anyone can object, for example for additions, deletions, or changes to the agenda. The group uses the consent process to agree on the final agenda.
This practice ensures that…
- the meeting addresses what’s most important to the group and
- that everyone is aligned on the meeting’s purpose and flow.
- It’s also a great way to build co-responsibility for how we spend our time.
