We spent a fair amount of time discussing Groundhogg at the co-working session this past Wednesday. One idea that came up was that it would be useful to have a space for SoFA members who use Groundhogg to share information with each other. We talked about the existing web content publishing community of practice (WCP CoP), but using Groundhogg is not actually web content publishing. Would we (in @IT-Circle or @website-circle) want to expand the scope of the existing WCP CoP, or would we perhaps want to create a separate CoP for sharing information about using IT tools in SoFA more generally? What reactions do folks have to these desires and ideas?
One problem with a community of practice around a tool is that it gets repetitive. Iād suggest a 3-session intro series with a fixed committed participation. The first session could cover basics and be recorded so that those who already know the basics can skip it or skim through it. This series could be repeated several times a year as needed. And those who complete the series or have equivalent knowledge could be awarded a badge that is the ticket of entry for troubleshooting or coworking sessions. So, aiming to support according to level of experience and minimize dead time.
